Euonymous, Japanese yew, Illex etc. They're beneficial to a wide variety of plants such as Pittosporum, Japanese box, Viburnum, and Lilly Pilly. Often the plants have taken all of the available nutrients from the soil and require adding more nutrients to begin recovering. In the instance of potted Buxus, they may have simply out grown the pot and require replacing into a pot size that fits the size of the root system and plant.

Most Buxus benefit from feeding in early spring and again in late summer. In warmer climates, feeding can continue later into the year. The best sign to fertilise is at the sign of new buds which follows a 6-8 week cycle from the beginning of Spring.

It’s best to prune first, then apply fertiliser to support recovery and stimulate fresh growth. This is because plants require energy from nutrients to recover. The more you prune, the more energy the plant will need to regrow what has been clipped.

Regular pruning is the key to managing the height of your hedges. Consistent clipping should keep them closer to the height that you require. However, as hedges grow, they will naturally increase in size and may require hard cut backs or renovations, to keep them at your desired height. If you are doing a hard cut back or renovating ensure you apply Topbuxus Health-mix and Grow to ensure that all plant wounds are innoculated and that enough nutrients are supplied to boost energy stores for a faster recovery.
